Famille Helfrich, the premium on-trade and independents arm of Les Grands Chais de France, will launch its first ever portfolio tasting on 25-27 February 2019 from 10am-5pm at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. Up to 300 wines from the extensive Famille Helfrich portfolio, destined exclusively for the on-trade and independent merchant channels, will be on show with current vintages presented wherever possible.
The tasting will also feature sections dedicated to crémant, vegetarian, and organic wines, O% abv and all format sizes. There will also be a round table discussion on crémant in association with The Wine Merchant, and a culinary demonstration by Calvet brand ambassador and local Michelin starred chef, Glynn Purnell, to celebrate the launch of the new Calvet range for the on-trade and independents.
The event will target new and existing trade customers, and there will be a special day on Wednesday 27th February for sommeliers and restaurateurs.
Laid out by region, the tasting will encapsulate Famille Helfrich’s credentials as a family-owned and run producer of premium wines from France, and now from all over the world. Wines will be shown from their more than 50 domains covering some of the best terroir that France has to offer, as well as from their recently acquired properties in Germany, Spain and Hungary and the New World. Each section will be presented by Famille Helfrich winemakers for that particular region, including Pierre-Jean Sauvion who heads up winemaking in the Loire and Nicholas Haffelin who is in charge in Alsace. New World Winemaker, Nick Butler will also be on hand with a range of wines from the New World where Famille Helfrich are currently investing heavily.
“Through this, our first Famille Helfrich tasting event, we aim to show the on-trade and independents that we can supply them exclusively with everything from premium to house, from traditional to on-trend, not only from France but from across our international portfolio,” says Chris Davies Director of On-trade and Independents for Famille Helfrich
“Famille Helfrich was founded in 1979 and we are proud to still be family owned and run,” says Chris Davies. “Our size and infrastructure mean that we can consolidate our on-trade wines at Les Grands Chais de France HQ in Alsace. They can then be ordered on mixed pallets with the minimum order being just one half a pallet, making us the ideal supplier for both on-trade and independents,” says Davies.
