No. 1 French brand Calvet boosts its platform in the UK culinary scene & celebrates with the winners of this year’s London Restaurant Festival

The UK’s #1 French wine brand, Calvet, owned by Les Grands Chais de France, has enjoyed a successful partnership with this year’s London Restaurant Festival as headline wine sponsor, culminating in the Festival’s Awards Party which took place on Tuesday evening 4th November.  The collaboration builds on Calvet’s established link with the dynamic culinary sector in the UK, which started in 2018 with the appointment of Michelin starred Brummy chef, Glyn Purnell as Calvet’s brand ambassador.  

The Ceremony took place at the Hyatt Hotel in Marylebone, London, and was presented by well-known food and drinks broadcaster, Nigel Barden. The 350 high profile restaurant industry guests celebrated with glasses of Calvet Crémant de Bordeaux Rosé and Brut, Calvet St Emilion and Calvet Reserve Blanc.  The Most Welcoming Front of House award, won by Szabi Kovaks of Rules, was also presented by Calvet’s UK PR, Emma Roberts at Eviva Communications.

Other notable award winners included; Fergus Henderson and Trevor Gulliver from St. John restaurant who won the award for Outstanding Contribution to the Restaurant Industry, Flor in Borough Market which was awarded Restaurant of the Year and Jackson Boxer from Brunswick House who took Chef of the Year

Over the course of the Festival, which ran throughout October and is in its 11th year, selected wines from the Calvet range accompanied 18 events including; Tasting Menus and Restaurant Hopping Tours in top restaurants across the Capital. Calvet Crémant de Bordeaux rosé and brut were poured at Gourmet Odyssey, as well as at the Festival’s Launch Party in September at The Wellington on Jermyn Street. Other Calvet wines featured during the Festival included classics such as Calvet Margaux and Calvet Pommerol, as well as newer wines to the range like Calvet Menetou Salon, which were paired with diverse styles of cuisine, showcasing the food friendly quality of the pan-appellation French range.
