Sud de France Press Day 2017 celebrates the incredible diversity of the new extended region, Occitanie 

Sud de France – the umbrella brand for wine, food, tourismhealth and well-being products from the Occitanie region of southern France will hold this year’s press tasting on Wednesday 4th October at La Maison de la Région Occitanie Pyrénées-Méditerranée in London from 10.30am to 6pm. 

It’s been a year since Sud de France formally announced the extension of its brand to include products from the new bigger region of Occitanie, which combines the vineyards of the Languedoc-Roussillon, 75% of the South West and a small section of the south-west Rhône valley making it the largest quality wine region in the world!  With a total surface area of 222,251 ha under vine, this new territory covers 13 departments, has 61 AOPs29 IGPs and 56 approved grape varieties for wine making, consequently, the selection of wines on offer at the tasting will reflect this incredible diversity of wines, styles and terroirs. 

The tasting will be self-pour and a unique opportunity to taste over 150 wines from across Occitanie, all currently available in the UK off-trade and conveniently displayed by price range and distribution channel (Supermarket, online, multiple specialist, independent merchants etc). 

Isabelle Kanaan, Executive Director of Sud de France in the UK says The extensive range on display at this year’s press tasting will really celebrate and show off the endless diversity of styles and colours that Occitanie is able to offer. Attendees can expect traditional appellations such as GaillacFaugères or Cahors as well as trendy styles and grapes like Picpoul de PinetMalbecs and Crémant de Limoux and unusual, innovative blends. It is a unique opportunity to taste wines across all price points as well as all styles from the Languedoc, the Roussillon and the South West vineyards, all UK available – under one roof.’
