Masterclass: Savatiano insights – a deep dive into Greece’s classic grape

Date: November 4, 2024
Time: 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Location: 67 Pall Mall, London SW1Y 5ES

A fascinating masterclass focusing on Attica’s iconic white grape, Savatiano, one of Greece’s most planted varieties. The combination of the region’s old, dry-farmed vines, limestone terroir and extremely low-yields results in wines that are now amongst the most exciting in Greece.

Yiannis will guide you through the different styles (including late release, orange, SO2 free and extended lees contact), terroirs, winemakers and techniques that redefine the conversation around Savatiano and its excellent potential to make characterful and age-worthy wines. A spotlight will be shone on the elegant, postmodern Retsinas, now re-envisioned by the region’s pioneering young producers. Savatiano best encapsulates the transition of Attica from an ancient and traditional vineyard area to a dynamic, modern re-emerging Greek wine region.
